    Blogs and Downloads

The Excel 12 blog now requires $349.00 in order to view it.

You can order everything from my website for less than that.<g>

Maybe you have a better choice?

How does one add downloads to this site or update the text for an existing one?

    Re: Blogs and Downloads

The Excel blog no longer requires logging in to TechNet to access it.

     Strange how things change...

You cannot edit entries in the file download area currently. Can you not edit your own upload though?

Adding downloads to posts should be on one of the tabs in the editor, or, of course you can upload to th file area.

Any issues let me know specifics and I'll check it out

After I log-in and go to my download, how do I edit the descriptive text?

Where exactly is the "editor tab"?

What are the specific steps to upload a file?

(In January, that option appeared on the home page at the top right)

    I've looked into this and...

    1. To upload a file, go to the relevant folder and hit the upload button
    2. Once you have uploaded a file, you are the 'owner' of that file, so providing you are logged in using the same userID, the files you 'own', when you click on their hyperlink in the file list, will have an edit button. This allows you to edit anything. Those for which you are not the 'owner', do not have an edit button.
    3. If you want to author a blog, just shout and I'll set one up for you. Again, you are the 'owner' so can do anything on that blog, but only a normal user on other blogs.

    Hopefully that makes sense???

Let me know if it still doesn't answer the question.

    Re: Blogs and Downloads

Re #1.  Thanks I have found the upload button.

Re # 2.  There is no edit button anyplace for uploaded files that I can find.  Perhaps because I use FireFox?

Re # 3.  My own blog!  Not yet;  however, do you think anyone would be interested in my fantasies about Pamala Anderson? <g>

Interesting, that could be a firefox issue, is there anyway you could test on IE? I'm really interested. Providing you upload as your ID and have logged back in under the same ID, then when you click on the file hyperlink in the list, you should see an edit button. (I have a TestUser logon with simple registered user priviledges and that seemed to work, but in IE)

Pamela Anderson... I'd be interested. One thing I would like to put out there too. There is no need for everything to be high-end, deep and meaningful stuff. There are probably more people out there who want to read about features like 'double-clicking' the fill handle than, XLL add-ins! That's why I am looking at simple 'assembly' videos like the one on pivot tables.

    Anyhow, when you're ready.

    Re: Blogs and Downloads

I tried IE7 again today.  The screens presented in both IE and Firefox are the same - either clicking the .xla link and clicking the name of the add-in or clicking the Downloads link and clicking the name of the add-in.

What I get is four linked headings...

Download;  Emails Subscription Disabled;  Favorites;  Contact

About halfway down the page is a "Jim Cone" link.

None of those lead to an edit capability.

Also, there is an "Add" button below the comments text box.
