Jan Karel Pieterse:I know there is a bug (at least I think it is one) in 2007 that prevents you from enabling macros on workbooks which have been saved with password protection. Remove the file open password and things should work again.
Jan, is that a bug in Excel or is it due to network settings (security)? I ask because I have recently run into this problem, I think. I have posted several .xlsm files that are password protected on my website for my students. The files do not work on the campus network when they are password protected. They work just fine on every standalone PC that I have tried them on. If I remove the password, then they work fine on the campus PCs. I also have identical Excel 2003 files that are password protected and work just fine on campus.
I've been trying to track down the problem with our IT folks. They figured out that the password was causing the problem, but they don't know what to do about it. Since the files work perfectly on my home PC (not on the campus network), I figured that it must be a network setting. Do you have any links that describe this problem?
I guess I should mention that all of the PCs that I have tried these files on are running XP Pro, not Vista.
