Bell curve graph / Standard deviation graph

I need some help. I have 500 data points and I would like to create a bell shaped graph. Can someone please show me a step by step guide how to do this.

I can send you the data points if required. I've tried using the guide on google, but the instruction are not clear in how to create a mean and standard devaiation and you plot the resultng values.

If you want to have a frequency distribution, try installing the analisys toolpak addin and use its data analysis feature, Histogram option. That'll show you the distribution of your data in bins.

And if one was wanting to compare that distribution curve to a normal distribution? That is to create a normal curve in the same chart relative to the same dataset?

The easiest would be to create a fixed dataset that follows the normal distribution using the same bins you use for your data histogram. The analysis toolpak has some functions for this IIRC.

 Tushar Mehta has a nice add-in and tutorial for charting a normal distribution.
