How to protect a Combo box

Hi, Please forgive my ignorance, but I have inherited a workbook that uses 2 Comboxes (something which I normally eschew, preferring to use Data Validation - List option).

I have password protected the worksheet, allowing users to select locked and unlocked cells.

The trouble is an auditor looked through it, and found out that you could type into the text field of the Combobox, and change it (why anyone would want to do that is a mystery, but I suppose you never know).

As I have to keep the combobox for a while yet, how or what do I do to prevent someone from changing the text field?

     Alan,

I'm not entirely sure what the issue is, but I suspect the problem is that someone can enter a value in the ComboBox that is not in the list.  There are a couple of alternatives, but I think the simplest is probably what you need.

The simple alternative is to change the Style property of the Comboboxes from fmStyleDropDownCombo to fmStyleDropDownList (Right click on the control when you've unprotected the sheet and choose properties).

    Hope that helps.

    David B.

Thanks David - exactly what I needed.
