Any way to increase maximum columns?

I use Excel 2000 under Windows XP.  The maximum number of columns seems to be 230 (A-IV).  Is there any way to increase the number of columns?  I am using the transpose option when pasting ~700 rows, and it is a real pain to have to do it in 4 pieces, and of course, greatly increases the likelihood of making a mistake.

I'm afraid not, you'll need to be up to Excel 2007 before the rows increase from 256. (16k in 2007)

    Nick-

Thanks for the prompt reply.  Guess my upgrading to a newer version of Excel is long overdue anyway.  Would I also have to upgrade from XP to Vista in order to use Excel 2007?

If you want to have more rows and columns in a lower version (<2007) then a workaround is to insert an OWC Spreadsheet in a sheet.

This will give you 2^18 = 262144 rows and 18278 (zzz) columns
