Working with Pivot Tables (Part 1)

This is the first of a series of pivot table videos, showing how to build and manipulate them using external data. Specifically an Access Database.

It is also a trial for me to see how it works and how popular they are. In this first one, I apologise for the typewriter-like keyboard presses. I have a laptop with internal microphone.

Hope you enjoy this and I'll try and get around to a few more, on this subject and others.

Nick, This is a really excellent tutorial. Clear, well delivered, straightforward. Well done! A couple comments: Although I have lots of excel, vba, and pivot table experien, I had not tried the link to Access yet. So it was really instructive. Also my first real exposue to 2007 - I like the new pivot features, at least. (In 2003 and earlier I have used the group/outline features on pivot tables to get the collapse/expand effect) My current questions are more along the lines of data updating, such as: does refreshing the pivot source cause the query to execute on new data in the access tables,?, how to easily re-direct the same link to a different access file, or a different query in the same file?, etc. I hope these topics will be covered in future installments.
